Music and Songwriting

I've been playing guitar and songwriting for about the past five years or so. Currently I'm working with my new band thisaddictive, and should have a new cd released shortly. We're an alt-rock group, although I write songs across a few other genres as well, I like to keep the band's focus firmly in that direction. I thought I'd use this space to showcase some demos of my original compositions and solo stuff away from the confines of my day job. Do let me know what you think. Bear in mind that everything here is a work-in-progress recorded on a basic home studio setup (Cakewalk Sonar XL 2.0, with an Audigy2 soundcard hooked to an SM58).

A "re-imagining" of a little 30-second song Veruca Salt used to play live before Seether but never recorded. This is definitely my favourite cover and one of my fave tunes so far. You'll notice the band name's Shutterbug instead of thisAddictive, it's the name of my solo side-project from the band (bonus points to anyone who can spot the reference there ^_^). At this rate, I'll get the Shutterbug EP out before the rest of the band's stuff.

Ooh, I like this:). Bit of a new direction for me, a little more synthy but still nice n' guitar-heavy pop tune. This one's dedicated to my Pagan friend Karmell(aka lady Miller), love ya babe^_^

Funny how things work out. Went to see ROTK on opening night but the cinema was mobbed, and if I hadn't gone back home I'd never have written this song, which I think is the best thing I've written so far. A very gentle, happy little tune, an ode to sitting in and takin' it easy once in a while. So kick back and enjoy;)

The second track from the new EP I'm working on with the band. Love those harmonies in the chorus:)

Here's an older track, this time with the band. It's my tribute to an old friend I lost a few years ago. This one's for you, Jeremiah.

A gentle acoustic song, kind of a bittersweet concept piece, it was originally a poem I wrote a while ago. One day I was messing around on my acoustic guitar and came up with a riff that just fit, and the song was born.
